Waldie Plaza in downtown Antioch will again be hopping with good music and family fun this summer. Due to the generosity of the Lesher Foundation, the city’s summer concert series has been expanded to every Saturday in July and August, from 6-8 p.m. This year’s lineup features:

July 7: Spindrift California (from easy-listening to foot-stomping tunes)

July 14: Pittsburg’s PhD’s (Latin/jazz/old school)

July 21: Sumac (blues and R&B)

July 28: Juke Joint (classic soul and R&B)

Aug. 4: Jessica Caylyn (hometown country rocker and Nashville recording artist)

Aug. 11: Soul Request (R&B, pop, urban jazz)

Aug. 18: Bell Brothers (country rock)

Aug. 25: Tuck and Roll (’50s and ’60s rock ’n’ roll).

A special kickoff concert, featuring local favorite Vocal Ease & the Boogie Men, will be held June 30 from 6-8 p.m. on the grounds of the Antioch Historical Society.

Seating for the summer concert series is not provided; concertgoers are invited to bring blankets and folding chairs. The series is sponsored by the Lesher Foundation, Arts & Cultural Foundation of Antioch, City of Antioch, East County Times, Genon, Give Always to Others & Company, Clay, Millias & Co, LLP, and the Antioch Chamber of Commerce.
