Antioch Cop Log: May 20 to May 26

May 20, 4:34 p.m. Antioch Police responded to the report of subjects removing items from a residence on the 3400 block of Gentrytown Drive.

Witnesses provided a description of the subjects and their vehicle, which officers stopped as it was leaving the scene. Property in the truck was identified by the victim. Officers detained the occupants of the vehicle – 33-year-old Antioch resident Kenneth Hubbs and 25-year-old Pleasant Hill resident Rachael Byrnes – until they were positively identified by witnesses.

A further search of the vehicle yielded credit cards, checks and IDs stolen in burglaries in Pleasant Hill, Pittsburg and Antioch. Hubbs and Byrnes were booked at police headquarters and taken to the Martinez Detention Facility.

May 22, 7:47 p.m. Officers of the Antioch Police Department responded to the report of a shooting on the 2300 block of D Street.

Upon arrival, officers found the victim, a 19-year-old Antioch resident, on the sidewalk. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The motive for the shooting is unknown at this time, but leads are being followed up by the Antioch Police investigations unit.

May 26, 5:26 p.m. Officers of the Antioch Police Department responded to the report of two subjects climbing over the back fence of a residence on the 3300 Block of Camby Road.

Upon arrival, officers found 18-year-old Antioch resident Dominic Flowers and a 14-year-old male inside. Flowers fled onto a trail behind the residence, was flushed out of a nearby backyard by K9 Thor and apprehended.

The juvenile was taken into custody without incident.
