Former Brentwood resident Armida Viramontes Castro entered the gates of heaven on Jan. 16. She was born on Oct. 31, 1936 in Los Angeles and was preceded in death by son Robert Paul and daughter Lori Jean.

Armida was a devoted wife of 53 years to her loving husband, Manuel (Manny). She was a caring mother to son James (Madaline) and proud grandmother to the light of her life, grandson Roman. Armida is also survived by her sisters, Helen Torres, Delfina Vega, Lucia Viramontes; and brothers, Tom, David and Paul Viramontes; as well as countless nieces and nephews.

Armida was a hairstylist for over 30 years but enjoyed spending most of her time with her husband, family, friends and cherished grandson. She had a creative artistic spirit that shone through in her arts and crafts projects, which not only won her numerous awards but were presented to her family and friends as gifts from her heart.

Armida will be remembered by her love for our Lord, involvement in all church activities, caring for her family and friends, her distinguished infectious laugh, and being an avid fan of the San Francisco 49ers, having proudly attended three of their Super Bowls. She will live in our hearts forever.

The family wishes to express sincere gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from family, friends and the families of Camden Assembly of God.

A memorial service to celebrate Armida’s life was held on Friday, Jan. 23 at Camden Assembly of God in Campbell. Internment took place Saturday, Jan. 24 at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Antioch.
