Babe Francis Griffin, born Francis Domingo Garcia, was born on Dec. 9, 1927 to Jim and Marcillina Garcia of Oakley. Babe passed away peacefully at her home on June 14 after a year long battle with cancer.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Don Milton Griffin, who passed away in 2004. Babe and her husband Don moved to Calaveras County in the early 1980s and then to Pine Grove in 2004. Prior to living in Amador County, she and her family lived in Oakley, where she worked as a school bus driver.

She is survived by her sons: John Daniel Griffin (Karen) of Ione and Ricky Ray Griffin of West Point; she has three grandchildren: Casie Rae Griffin Fuentes (Tony) of Sacramento, Douglas Ryan Griffin and Brandon Daniel Griffin, both of Ione. She has one great-grandson, who was the light of her life, Antonio Luis Fuentes. She is also survived by brothers Jim, Billy and Reno and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Her brother Angelo and sister Mary preceded her in death.

Babe enjoyed spending time with her friends and was an avid bowler. She loved to garden and would never miss a baseball game, especially if the A’s and Giants played. The family held a memorial service on Monday, June 22. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the local Cancer Society or Stars of Amador County, which provides transportation for local cancer patients. The address for Stars is P.O. Box 208, Jackson, CA 95642. For more information, call Karen Griffin at 209-639-8170 or e-mail karengriffin3469@yahoo.com. Services were entrusted to Daneri Mortuary in Jackson.
