Editor:

It all started a few weeks back when my daughter said, “Mommy, can we hold a bake sale?” Well, I of course said yes, but that whatever she made we should donate to a cause. She said OK, almost as if she was thinking there was never any other thought but to donate profits.

So we sat down and went through a list of places she could donate to. She settled for Kids Cancer Research. We went around to a few stores here in Brentwood and asked to have permission to hold our bake sale. We are so thankful to Safeway for allowing our little trooper to do this.

I feel it has given her a huge life lesson: to give to those whenever, however we can. That one person … big, small, young, old, wealthy or poor can and should do something to cause change.

Today she held her little bake sale. Residents of Brentwood came and gave. The first donation and her eyes lit up. So thank you, thank you for a wonderful sale. We can only hope and pray that somewhere some child will see change in their battle to be cancer free and will benefit from our community of open hearts here in Brentwood.
