There’s still time to help take a bite out of cancer at this weekend’s Bark for Life canine event sponsored by the American Cancer Society. The “bark” event will be held on Saturday, July 21 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at O’Hara Park Middle School in Oakley. An extension of Brentwood’s Relay for Life, the first-ever fundraiser will generate money for the American Cancer Society and honor the caregiving qualities of our canine companions. Before they “bark,” participants should register their dog for $25, create teams of family and friends like those in the regular Relay for Life event and solicit donations for the cause from family, friends and outside donors. On the morning of the Bark for Life, pet owners can walk their dogs (on leashes) around a mock track with other participants. All participating dogs must be current on their shots. For more information, visit www.relayforlife.org/barkbrentwoodca, call 925-513-7762 or 925-550-1381, or e-mail foresharon@earthlink.net. or wanda.zimmerman@att.net.
