Friends of Marsh Creek Watershed (FOMCW) has been chosen as one of six national finalists to receive a $25,000 grant from MillerCoors, one of the nation’s top brewers, and River Network, a national nonprofit working to improve the health of local rivers and watersheds.

FOMCW needs the community’s help to win. The winner will be chosen through an online voting competition; the finalist with the most votes wins a $25,000 grant; the second place winner receives $15,000; third place, $10,000. The remaining projects will each receive $2,000.

The money FOMCW receives will fund the dozens of its community service projects and education events, which increase understanding and raise awareness about local water-quality issues and advance stewardship activities within the Marsh Creek Watershed. The projects also support California’s efforts to protect the San Joaquin Delta ecosystem.

Residents can show their support by voting for FOMCW through March 19. The competition winners will be announced March 22 at www.rivernetwork.org. To cast your vote, visit www.rivernetwork.org/forms/2012-millercoors-river-network-grant-contest-vote-now.
