The bike lanes on Hillcrest have become virtually unusable because they are no longer swept. In fact, when sweeping the road, crud gets swept into the bike lanes.
It is virtually impossible to ride from Via Dora to the park and ride without getting a puncture. This forces cyclists to ride on the sidewalk or out of the bike lane or give up on cycling altogether. It is possible to buy tires that are virtually puncture-proof but they run $70 a pair.
I suppose that this is the result of economic woes but it is a serious problem for bikers.
