Summer is fading fast and school will be back in session before you know it, but don’t load up your backpacks just yet.

The Brentwood Youth Commission will host a dance for high school students on Friday, July 24. The Endless Summer beach-themed event, complete with a DJ and light refreshments, will be held at the Brentwood Community Center from 8 to 11 p.m.

The results the commission gathered from a survey conducted earlier this year indicate that local teens want a dance scheduled that’s open to all the local high schools.

“A lot of kids commented in the survey that they would like to see a dance for teens to attend that wasn’t put on by the schools,” said Youth Commissioner Elysia Cook. “That way, Liberty and Heritage students can hang out together at an event without having to request dance bids.”

Tickets are $5 and may be purchased at the door. Students must present a valid high school ID upon entering the community center.

All proceeds will benefit the commission’s scholarship program, which awards multiple $750 scholarships to graduating seniors each year.

The Brentwood Community Center is located at 730 Third St. For more information, call the Brentwood Parks and Recreation Department at 925-516-5444.
