The Antioch Riverview Garden Club and the Antioch Parks Department will observe National Arbor Day on Friday April 29 at 3:30 p.m. at Antioch Community Park, 801 James Donlon Blvd.

Mayor Jim Davis, who issued an Arbor Day proclamation at the April 12 City Council meeting, will join club members and Cub Scout Pack 247 in the dedication ceremony. Club members and Scouts will plant two coast live oaks donated by Pacheco Brothers Gardening in Martinez.

The event, Antioch’s ninth Arbor Day observation, allows the city to maintain its title of Tree City USA from the National Arbor Day Foundation.

The Antioch Riverview Garden Club meets the first Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Antioch Public Library, 501 W. 18th St. Those interested in gardening and community beautification are welcome. For more information, call 925-439-4482.
