The Brentwood VFW Post 10789 will be honoring those who gave all for their country this Memorial Day at Union Cemetery in Brentwood. The public is invited to attend the 10 a.m. event on May 31, which will feature guest speakers and music.

This year, the American Legion and Warrior Watch Riders meet at Starbucks on Sand Creek Road across from the Streets of Brentwood at 9:30 a.m. Memorial Day morning, and ride over to the Union Cemetery as a group to participate in the annual observance.

“We’ve been doing this (Memorial Day ride) in Antioch for a couple of years now and wanted to bring it to Brentwood because our chapter has gotten so big,” said Fran Curtis, president of Chapter 202 American Legion Riders. “Anyone with a motorcycle is welcome to join us as we honor those that gave all.”

Immediately following the cemetery service, the American Legion Riders join the Marine Corps League at Veterans Park in Brentwood for a flag-raising ceremony and barbecue. Proceeds from the barbecue benefit local veterans.

Union Cemetery is located at 11545 Brentwood Blvd. (Highway 4) between Brentwood and Discovery Bay.
