Los Medanos College professor and counselor Marco Godinez recently received the Cesar Chavez East County Educator of the Year Award from LMC and was honored by the City of Oakley with a proclamation by Mayor Pat Anderson.

An Oakley resident, Godinez has emerged as a leader in the community, working for such organizations as the Lynn Center for Special Needs Children and STAND for Domestic Violence.

At LMC, Godinez serves as an advisor for Puente, a mentoring program that promotes leadership skills and community involvement, and Brother-to-Brother, a student club where men work with at-risk youth to encourage young students to pursue higher education.
