“I couldn’t be more proud of the boys,” said head coach Mark Murray. “They played and swung the bats great.”
In game one, the Dawgs beat the Bombers of Marin 12-4 in five innings. Tommy Munson pitched the full game, striking out seven, and was bolstered by homers off the bats of Oscar Murray and Richie Kabasinskas. In game two, the Dawgs beat the neighboring Concord Patriots 11-8 in five innings. Their bats were again on fire, as Oscar Murray, Munson and Howie Hicks hit round-trippers. Hicks dominated on the mound and held the Pats to one run in three innings. Impressive team defense supported his efforts.
The Dawgs bats continued to smoke, this time against the Bombers in game three, where the Dawgs were victorious 17-3 in four innings. Kabasinskas ruled the mound with seven strikeouts. All 11 players notched hits, including homers by Munson and Kabasinskas.
The final game pitted the Dawgs against the Concord Patriots and saw Dawgs down by five runs going into the bottom of the sixth and final inning. Back-to-back home runs by Peyton Wood and Devyn Douglas, plus a final walk-off homer by Ryan Jackson, his second of the game, sealed the 10-9 victory.
Other Dawgs recording multi-hit games were Jared Cruce, Jeffery Wexler, Max Peterson and Bryce Fountain. The 9U Dawgs are coached by Mark Murray, Buzz Cruce and Jason Peterson. The Dawgs field teams from 9U through 14U. For more information about the Delta Dawgs, go to www.deltadawgsbaseball.com.
