Contra Costa County District III Supervisor Mary Piepho announced this week that Bob Doran, resident of Discovery Bay, was appointed to the East County Regional Planning Commission by the Board of Supervisors at its March 31 meeting.

Doran has served the Discovery Bay community in various capacities for 20 years, and played a major role in the formation of the Town’s Community Services District. “Bob’s experience as a CSD member, his knowledge as a Discovery Bay historian, and his leadership skills make him a great person to represent Discovery Bay on this important land-use commission,” said Piepho. “Mr. Doran recognizes that the county needs to be held accountable on important growth issues, and he will do it.”

Piepho is charged with making three appointments to the East County Regional Planning Commission: the Knightsen seat currently held by Anthony Pigatti, the Discovery Bay seat now filled by Bob Doran, and the Byron seat, which is currently vacant. Applications for the Byron seat are being accepted. Applications may be obtained by visiting the county’s Web site, www.contra.napanet.net/maddybook/, or calling the County Clerk of the Board of Supervisors at 925-335-1900. Applications should be returned to the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors, 651 Pine Street, Martinez, CA 94553 by 5 p.m. on April 30, 2009.

What the F....this guy just got thumped by the voters in the CSD election. An incumbent who finished dead last and by a significant margin. The people of Discovery Bay voted this guy out and Mary Piepho brings him back in. Does she not know how to read election results? What a bold political move to pick a guy like this who I'm sure will do everything she orders him to. This was an insult to the people of Discovery Bay and a slap in the face of political decency. How can the paper not report all the facts surrounding this appointment? FACT….the guy got kicked out of office by the voters; we have had enough of this guy. Piepho showed her true colors by bringing him back.
