Discovery Bay resident Kevin and Kathleen McEvoy, friends and family, are proud to announce that their son, E-3 Seaman Christopher M. McEvoy, 18, graduated from the United States Coast Guard Training Center at Cape May, N.J. on Aug. 17. A Liberty High School graduate, Seaman McEvoy earned his National Security Medal and graduated as a member of Company Zulu 186. For 14 weeks beginning Oct. 15, he’ll be attending Boatswain Mate A school in Yorktown, Va., where he’ll graduate as a 3rd Class Petty Officer in the United States Coast Guard Reserve. When he returns home, he’ll be stationed at Port Security Unit 312 at the San Francisco Air Station, located at the San Francisco International Airport. Seaman McEvoy plans to attend Los Medanos Community College and transfer to Cal State East Bay to obtain his bachelor’s degree. He is currently a Contra Costa Sheriff Cadet with the rank of corporal, and plans for a career in law enforcement. We all wish him good luck and thank him for his service to our nation.
