The East County Lions Scouts team faced the American Canyon Patriots and dominated at every level.

The day started out with dynamic runs from Braxton Copeland, who scored three times. Joe Luna and Giovanni Lorrea reached the end zone once each and Jay Butterfield connected on a 25-yard touchdown pass to Nicholas Guttridge. Fullback Cole Gregerson provided fierce lead blocking. The defense gave up only one touchdown all day. Led by Dalton Houston, the Lion D attacked at every opportunity. Spearheaded by hard hitting from Eric and Justin Bergen, John Puckett and Ryan Mooth, the Lions swarmed the Patriots on every play. The Lions Scouts are unbeaten on the year and face Deer Valley in the season finale.

Junior Midgets

The Junior Midget team, fresh from upsetting unbeaten Antioch the week before, started fast with a pair of touchdown runs from Christian Davilla. Joe Sweeney connected on a TD strike to Victor Saudie for 20 yards. The Lions were propelled by strong running and blocking from Dominique Espino, Chase Peralta, Ryan Payne, Jack Smith and Brandon Tatum. The defense, facing a larger Patriot team, was stifling. Led by Jesse Gregerson and bolstered by Kopono Carrera, Zachary Harris, Lee Sheppard and Peralta, the Lions surrendered only one touchdown the entire game. Next for the Lions is a playoff clash with Deer Valley at Los Medanos College.

Pee Wee Lions

The rain couldn’t ruin the Pee Wee Lions’ Homecoming game. After back-to-back wins, they faced a big and physical team from American Canyon. And they delivered in a big way, dismantling the American Canyon team 27-0 by means of a strong second half.

The Lions started slowly, managing a lone a touchdown run by Ronnie Rivers in the first quarter, but came out roaring in the second half. Following an onside kick recovery and a long pass completion from Brodie Garner to Dewey Martin, Rivers punched it in to give the Lions a 14-0 lead, effectively sealing the victory.

The Pee Wee Lions have now won three games in a row and face a must-win game against a talented Deer Valley team.
