For a year-round golfer like Deer Valley High's Ashley Edwards, the high school golf season is a welcomed change.

"It's good to get back to a normal schedule after spending the summer playing in tournaments all over the place," she said. "Now I can play at an easier pace."

The Wolverine junior has been burning up the Bay Valley Athletic League in addition to making her outside tournament appearances.

Edwards showed off her wares by winning the Fall Classic at Monarch Bay Golf Club in San Leandro on Sept. 18. She shot a one-under par 71.

The follow- ing week she took second at the Lone Tree Invitational at Lone Tree Golf Course in Antioch, finishing one stroke behind Amador Valley's Lauren Oh, who posted a 76 for the win.

"I got off to a rocky start on the front nine," Edwards said. "I had a pair of sixes for a 41. I played much better on the back with no sixes and a par 36."

Antioch High's Danielle Foster shot 69-67 for a low score of 136 at last Monday's Lone Tree Invitational.

Other Wolverine golfers to compete at the Lone Tree Classic were Kim Ewen, 95; Brittany Edwards, 98; Victoria Leon, 104, and Allison Isaccson, 109.

Amador Valley shot 430 as a five-player team, while Deer Valley completed the 18 holes in the top ten with a 483. An inexperienced Antioch High team completed 18 holes with a score of 727 for its five players. Danielle Foster shot 69-67 for a low score of 136.

Deer Valley is 7-1 in BVAL action following the tournament. The team is second only to 10-0 Carondelet.
