Emergency-preparedness classes

The Brentwood and Pittsburg police departments, in conjunction with the Contra Costa County Office of Emergency Services and Contra Costa County Consolidated Fire Department, is sponsoring emergency-preparedness (CERT) classes starting in September for residents at the following times and locations:

• Pittsburg – Mondays beginning Sept. 17 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at the Delta-Hawaii Center, 875 Stoneman Road.

• Brentwood – Thursdays beginning Sept. 20 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at police headquarters, 9100 Brentwood Blvd.

Classes are free and involve one evening per week for six weeks.
