Freedom High soccer defenseman Gerardo Fernandez recently signed his Letter of Intent to attend Holy Names University in Oakland. Fernandez made his parents proud by earning an academic and athletic scholarship to play soccer for the Hawks. Nick Lusson, head coach of Holy Names, welcomed Fernandez to the team. Fernandez plans on majoring in biology and pursuing a career in dentistry. He’s grateful to be able to attend a college close to home but distant enough to give him a taste of living on his own.
