Last weekend in Sacramento, the Freedom High track team put in an outstanding performance at the Sacramento Meet of Champions. All the athletes achieved personal bests and placed high against some of the best competition in Northern California, Nevada and Oregon.

D’Amora Cooper jumped 22.0 feet for first place and came back in the evening against the best jumpers in the state for the Invitational session and placed seventh. Tim Shepard took second place in the Open session of 100 meters with a time of 11.269, losing by a mere eight-thousands of a second.

Mike Kicenski tied for sixth place with a jump of 5 feet, 11 inches in the Open high jump. In the Open session of the 4x100-meter relay, Freedom’s team of Shepard, Darrel Daniels, Josh Garcia and Kenny Walker took fourth place with a season-best 42.88.

Kenny Walker placed third in the Open 300 IM hurdles with a time of 39.79 and placed fourth in the Invitational 110 high hurdles, recording a time of 14.63.

The Falcons now set their sights on tournament play: the BVAL, Tri-County, NCS Meet of Champions and CIF Championship in Fresno.
