Firefighter Tim Johnston of Oakley Station 93 works the intersection of Empire Avenue and Lone Tree Way, asking motorists to Fill the Boot in firefighter union Local 1230’s annual fundraising effort for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The total raised this year wasn’t yet available, but last year the men and women of far East County – with the generous help of far East County motorists – out-paced other area efforts by a lot, collecting $21,787, close to double the next highest total.
