Deer Valley grad Andre McPhail, the 2011 Bay Valley Athletic League boys basketball MVP, has signed a letter of intent to attend the University of Buffalo.

“Andre comes to us with a background of hard work and achievement,” said Bulls head coach Reggie Witherspoon. “We’re really excited to have him coming into our program. He impressed a lot of people on his visit and he brings a tremendous temperament and skill set to our program.”

Over his three-year varsity career at Deer Valley, McPhail averaged 17.7 points, 15.7 rebounds and 2.6 blocked shots per game while shooting 61 percent from the field. He recorded 50 double-doubles in 64 career games.

Following high school, McPhail split time between two prep schools. He started the year at La Jolla Prep, where he played 25 games for head coach Bobby Bossman and averaged 14 points and 10 rebound per contest. La Jolla faced accreditation problems, and McPhail transferred to Stoneridge Prep in January.
