Freedom’s junior varsity softball team claimed an important victory at the recent HASA Tournament, held at Antioch High. Facing competition from all over the Bay Area, the Falcons emerged as tournament champions. Pitchers Nicole Valdez and Gina Trout both showed no mercy on the mound, thanks to the support of catcher Kaitlyn Leffle, who has smashed three homers, including a grand slam, this season. Valdez, Trout and Leffle have been playing together since Little League. The quick infield and aggressive outfield provided strong defense, to the delight of head coach Nicole Foster.
