The Delta Wrestling Club sent 16 wrestlers to Fresno for the recent California Folkstyle Wrestling Tournament. In preparation for the tournament, the kids attended a wrestling camp during spring break – and the work paid off.

The Delta contingent fought hard in all the matches. Austin Solari took the first-place trophy for the second year in a row in the Schoolboy 91-pound division. Facing a 33-man bracket, Austin dominated every match, winning by major decision or pin fall. Cole Gregerson, wrestling in the Bantam 50-pound bracket, faced a 23-man field. Cole pinned and majored his way to the final and finished second overall.

Jesse Gregerson wrestled his way to a third-place finish in the Novice 85-pound weight class. Devon Lyle completed his year with a fouth-place finish in the Schoolboy 77-pound division. Wrestling in the 70-pound Intermediate class, Daniel Roanhorse finished in eighth place in only his second year of competition.

The club is sending six wrestlers to Reno for the final Folkstyle Wrestling Tournament of the year and hopes to achieve similar excellent results.

Members of the Delta Wrestling Club are Tanner Blank, Joey Trujillo, Austin Solari, Dries Pruis, Devon Lyle, Jesse Gregerson, Briar Edwards, Donovan Guerrero, Daniel Roanhoarse, Ethan Leak, Jakob Romeo, Bryant Garcia, Cody Pruis, Cole Gregerson, Hunter Leake and Luke Dizon. The club’s coaches are David Klingsheim, Anthony Thurgood and Rudy Dizon.
