The Streets of Brentwood will be overflowing with Patriot pride next week when Heritage High School hosts its inaugural Homecoming Parade on Friday, Oct. 30.

Since the Heritage campus is located on the outskirts of town along American Avenue, the school has found securing a parade route difficult. So this year, the Heritage Leadership class asked the popular shopping center, frequented by many Heritage students, to provide the parade route.

“The students came to us with the idea and we were on board right away,” said Streets of Brentwood General Manager Tracey Nobil. “It’s going to be a fun event, and we’re very excited to help support Heritage High School.”

The parade will kick off at 5 p.m. within the main shopping area. The Royal Court, including the Homecoming King and Queen, will be joined on the parade route by the Heritage marching band, school clubs and “Blast From the Past”-themed class floats. Local businesses and community organizations are also scheduled to make appearances in the parade.

Senior Stephanie Wallen said the students are excited to be able to show off their floats after years of leaving them idle on campus: “We’ve done float building every year, but since there was no parade, we just parked them on the basketball courts so that people could see them as they walked to the football field. Now, we finally get to show them off for all of Brentwood to see. We’re super excited. This is a big deal for Heritage.”

The football game will follow the parade at 7 p.m. against Antioch High’s Panthers.

“Everyone is really looking for a win this year,” Wallen added. “We’ve always played really tough teams at our Homecoming games, but we’re feeling pretty good about this year. We’re ready to beat the Panthers.”
