HomeGoods shoppers nationwide will have the opportunity to donate funds for cancer research and care as part of the ninth annual Be a Hero pin-up campaign benefiting the Jimmy Fund. The campaign will run in HomeGoods stores from Aug. 27 through Sept. 20.
HomeGoods customers who would like to donate can purchase Be a Hero cards for $1 each and 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit the Jimmy Fund, which supports cutting-edge research and care at the world-renowned Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
“All of us at the Jimmy Fund would like to thank HomeGoods and its generous customers across the country for helping make a big difference in the fight against cancer,” said Mike Andrews, former Boston Red Sox second baseman and Jimmy Fund chairman. “New discoveries are happening at a rapid pace, and funding is needed to develop the new treatments and cures that will benefit all facing this disease.”
“We are honored to support the Jimmy Fund and the amazing work they are doing in cancer research and care,” said Robyn Arvedon, HomeGoods spokesperson. “The Be a Hero campaign allows us, in partnership with our customers, to raise much-needed funds for this very worthy cause.”
Founded in 1948, the Jimmy Fund has been an official charity of the Boston Red Sox since 1953. It supports the fight against cancer at Boston’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, which is a leading cancer research and care center for adults and children. Unrestricted support from the Jimmy Fund is an integral part of Mission Possible: The Dana-Farber Campaign to Conquer Cancer, a $1 billion capital campaign to accelerate cancer research, speed development of life-saving therapies, and expand the institute’s signature patient- and family-centered care.
