John Gomez (Beaver), a longtime resident of Brentwood, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2010. He lived in Brentwood off of Highway 4 for 43 years. John was a gardener for many Brentwood residents, many of whom became longtime friends. He served in two wars in the U.S. Navy. John married Goldy Stanley and settled in Brentwood. He enjoyed river fishing, gardening and spending time with family and friends.

John is survived by his wife, Goldy Stanley Fitzgerald of Brentwood; daughter, Gayla Sims; two grandsons, Jamie Martinez and Wyatt Wood; twin granddaughters, Jaidyn and Autiana, all of Colorado; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews of Antioch, Brentwood and the Stockton areas.

John had a helpful spirit toward family and friends and will be missed by all who knew him. He would often say that he lived a good life and was a blessed man. Private services were held on Aug. 3. Per the family’s wishes, donations may be made to the Antioch Hospice.
