The EDYSL U12 girls Impact Xplosion and KonFusion teams brought home division championships in NorCal State Cup competition during the summer and fall of 2009.

The two teams found themselves competing for the title in Woodland only hours apart last Dec. 19. Coach Paul McIlvenny led the girls to victory with the help of Assistant Coach Matt Lord for KonFusion and Team Manager Julie Selin for Xplosion.

Impact Xplosion was the first to claim the NorCal Bronze State Cup in a tough battle against Vacaville’s Thunderbirds United. Xplosion took the lead midway through the first half and worked hard to ensure the goal stood as the game winner. It was Xplosion’s first-ever State Cup championship.

Impact KonFusion defended its NorCal Premier State Cup title against Burlingame’s Rays 97. The match saw the Rays take the lead against the run of play before being pegged back before the halftime whistle. Neither team was able to find a goal in regulation time, which forced the game into extra time. KonFusion nailed the winning goal for a 2-1 win seconds before the whistle blew.

The new season for EDYSL Impact will begin in the spring of 2010. Both teams will advance to U13 in the fall. To learn more about competitive play, visit www.edysl.net.
