C'mon, all you guys and dolls. Grab your saddle shoes, poodle skirts, leather jackets and blue jeans and head on down to the Veterans Hall in Brentwood for a be-boppin' good time.

The American Legion is hosting a '50s dinner-dance on May 12 to raise money for its scholarship fund. The evening's agenda includes dinner, dancing to DJ-generated '50s sounds, plus open cocktails, share-the-pot jackpot and a prize for the best costume.

Organizer John Becerra said the American Legion wants to raise enough money to send five boys from the Liberty High School District to Boys State, a hands-on leadership program that gives participants a better perspective on how government operates, and emphasizes civic responsibility. The program costs about $300 per student.

Open cocktails will be served starting at 6 p.m.; dinner at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person or $35 per couple. Brentwood's Veterans Hall is located at 757 First St. To purchase tickets or for more information, call Becerra at 437-8269.
