Even before the school year started, schools in the Liberty Union High School District began welcoming the incoming ninth-graders with Link Crew and Freshman Bootcamp activities.

Disguised as freshman orientations, boisterous celebrations were conducted complete with rallies, mascots and campus tours. Link Crew teachers warmed up the crowds with activities designed to help the incoming freshman make some new friends and generally bring them into the fold. Link Crew leaders from grades 10 through 12 provided peer support and helpful pearls of wisdom while leading groups of wide-eyed newcomers around campus.

Throughout the year, these leaders will serve as friendly and familiar faces at school, motivating new students to utilize all the resources LUHSD schools have to offer, including homework help, tutoring and Career Academy exploration. Leaders will also encourage and support participation at school-sponsored social activities such as dances, sporting events, group lunches, pizza parties and movie nights.
