In its ongoing mission to help others see the world, the Lions Club of Brentwood area has donated over 24,000 used prescription eyeglasses to the visually impaired. The Lions' effort is being bolstered by another local organization - Girlfriends Unlimited - which has committed to collecting 50 pairs of eyeglasses for the Lions' project.

The public is invited to help the Lions and Girlfriends reach their goals by bringing used prescription eyeglasses to its Women of the Wild West event, to be held Friday, Nov. 9 from 7 to 10 p.m. at Neighborhood Church 50 Birch St. in Brentwood.

With every pair of eyeglasses donated, participants will receive an opportunity to win a pair of new sunglasses from Eye Care Galleria, courtesy of Dr. Ingrid A. Stevens-Farinas. The event will also feature a live show by The Gunfighters, a fashion show by Winners Circle Western Wear, local pamperers and a chili cook-off contest - all for $15. Advance tickets can be obtained at Shifflett Photography, 700 Harvest Park Drive, Suite D. For more information, call 634-1415, ext. 31, or visit www.brentwoodnc.org/girlfriends.
