In an effort to reward the efforts of hardworking, community-oriented businesses, Assemblyman Guy Houston has selected Reagan Management Services as the Small Business of the Year in the 15th Assembly District.

Established in 1979 by Ron and Pat Reagan, Reagan Management Service's goal is to serve the management, accounting, tax reporting, payroll and investment needs of local businesses in Northern California.

"I wanted to select a small business that had not only been successful financially, but also has demonstrated a commitment to their community," stated Houston. "For years, Ron and Pat Reagan have invested their time and money to the betterment of Brentwood and the East County area."

Pat said she was surprised to find out their business was chosen.

"We are honored and privileged to have a business in Brentwood and I would like to think of us as two people among many who deserve this award," said Pat. "We are grateful to live and work here because it is a community of people who truly care about people."

Ron said he remembered a time when he had just moved to Brentwood and his car got stuck in the sand after he pulled off to the side of the road to check his map for directions. Ron didn't have to call for help because two strangers were kind enough to stop and help him free his car.

"I had never met these two men before," said Ron. "Neither of them asked me for anything and would not take anything from me. They just saw someone in need and stopped to help. It may be that neither of these men will ever know what an impact that little act of kindness has had on my life.

"That's what Brentwood is about to Pat and me. We are no different than all the other small businesses that want to give back in some small way to a town filled with people who care about people."

The Reagans have been involved in several community organizations, including the Brentwood Chamber of Commerce, Contra Costa Human Relations Commission, East County Soroptimists, and Mt. Diablo Hospital Advisory Board.

The Small Business of the Year awards are sponsored by the California Small Business Association (CSBA). Founded in 1980, the CSBA is a volunteer-driven, non-profit small business advocacy organization. Its mission is to provide small business with a meaningful voice in state and federal government.
