Local amateur golfer Mark Miller of Antioch paired with Casey Boyns to win the recent Northern California Golf Association Senior Four-Ball Championship at Poppy Hill Golf Course in Pebble Beach. Miller, the president of Lone Tree Golf Course Board, shot a 7-under 65 in the final round to secure the victory.

Miller and Boyns started the final day in second place and five shots behind the team of Mel Collins and David Ujihara. Miller and Boyns wasted no time chipping into the lead on the final day. Boyns birdied the first hole, which cut the lead to three. A birdie by Miller on the par-5 fourth hole cut the lead to two, after which Miller and Boyns took the lead on the par-5 ninth.

Collins and Ujihara took a share of the lead with a birdie on the par-5 10th, but relinquished the lead for good with a bogey on the par-3 11th.

“He couldn’t have done Antioch prouder then to bring home this NCGA Major,” said Ron Parish, director of golf at Lone Tree Golf Course.
