If you answered yes to any of those questions, be aware that there’s a sports program that has all those elements and is affordable in these tough financial times. It’s called IMPACT Cheer.
Cornerstone Christian Center in Antioch will be one of several churches in the nation to host an IMPACT Cheerleading program, and registration will soon be conducted for the upcoming fall program, serving 2010-11 kindergarten through sixth-grade students in Contra Costa County. IMPACT’s fall season begins Aug. 7 and ends Nov. 20 with regional competition at Capital Christian Center in Sacramento.
IMPACT Cheer is “Cheerleading with a Purpose” that involves organized practices, a focus on skill development, creative curriculum, positive environment and an opportunity to compete in regional and national competitions.
IMPACT was developed by the Fellowship of Christian Cheerleaders. Founded in 1986, FCC currently services more than 25,000 students per year through camps and competitions. FCC is endorsed nationally by the Association of Christian Schools International, which represents more than 6,000 schools and 2 million students.
IMPACT’s first registration takes place Friday, May 28 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Cornerstone Christian Center, 1745 E. 18th St., Room 3A, in Antioch. Registration will also be held Fridays, June 11 and 25, and July 9, 23 and 30, also from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Registration forms may be picked up in the Cornerstone Christian Center’s office or during registration.
The $290 registration fee includes a full uniform (shell, liner, briefs, skirt and bow), cheer shoes, three-hour/five-day Cheer Camp, IMPACT back sack, instructional DVD, music CD, IMPACT Devotion/Game Plan booklet, pom-poms, and practice T-shirt, “Cheer for Him” bracelet, and end-of-the-season gift.
