The program allows residents to deliver their unused, unwanted or expired medications to law enforcement officials, who can dispose of these substances in a safe and non-hazardous manner.
Controlled, non-controlled and over-the-counter substances will be accepted. Illicit substances such as marijuana or methamphetamines are not part of this initiative. All solid dosage pharmaceutical products and liquids in consumer containers will be accepted. Caps should be locked tightly on liquid packaging. Intravenous solution, injectables and syringes will not be accepted due to the potential hazard posed by blood-borne pathogens.
All efforts will be made to protect the anonymity of individuals disposing of medication. No questions or requests for identification will be made. Participants are urged to remove their names from any prescription medication containers.
