Oakley kids fishing derby returns

The City of Oakley is partnering with Hook, Line & Sinker to host the eighth annual Oakley Kids Fishing Derby – a catch-and-release event for children through age 15 – on Saturday, Aug. 27 at the Antioch/Oakley Pier off of Bridgehead Road.

Registration is free, and participants have the option of pre-registering at City Hall, 3231 Main St., or Hook, Line & Sinker, 3100 Main St. Parents can also register their children onsite between 8 and 9 a.m. The derby runs from 9 to 11 a.m. and is followed by a short fishing seminar and free hotdog lunch. Awards will be given for Biggest Fish, Smallest Fish and most Fish Caught. Kids should bring their fishing poles; free bait will be supplied.
