The Brentwood Patriots 18U baseball team competed in the TPR Patriot Weekend Championships in honor of those lost in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

The Brentwood Patriots are comprised of Heritage High School juniors and seniors who are preparing for the 2010 season. Playing in association with the Delta Dawgs Baseball Club, the Patriots went undefeated in pool play to obtain the No. 1 seed in the championship round.

The Patriots blanked the Bay Valley Bombers Elite in the semi-final round 6-0, and squared off to challenge the very talented CenCal 18U team.

The championship game was a battle from the beginning and went back and forth, ending in a tie after regulation play. In the bottom of the eighth inning, with bases loaded, Connor Applegate launched a towering drive to center field scoring the winning run. The players then accepted the aptly named "TPR Patriot Weekend Championship" trophy.

The Brentwood Patriots' solid hitting throughout the weekend accounted for 36 runs and the excellent pitching and defense only allowed 7 runs. Making this tournament victory extra special is that while the Patriots team is comprised solely of Heritage players, the competition is made up of players from all over Northern California.
