The report of my death was an exaggeration.

Contrary to recent rumors, Pee Wee Muldoons is still in business and providing the same good food and entertainment locals have enjoyed for the past 20 years. The restaurant is in a state of reorganization, but that isn't hampering operations; in fact, the activity has resulted is some interesting changes.

Dai-Ichi Sushi has been integrated into the main Pee Wee Muldoons dining room, and chef Henry Chen has been brought on board to oversee Dai-Ichi's culinary art. Sushi lovers, unite! Chen brings two decades of experience from Hong Kong, arguably the food capital of Asia. If you haven't tried sushi, Chen would like to be your guide to discovering the cuisine's delights.

Susie Ryan came to Pee Wee's last Tuesday evening just for the sushi after she and her husband, Keith, made a stop at Ace Hardware. I love sushi, she said. And this place has a really good selection. Chen said portions are on the large side and a nine-piece regular sushi combo costs only $9.95. The Sushi Lunch Special is also $9.95 and includes five pieces of nigiri sushi, one daily special roll and miso soup.

Another of Pee Wee's changes is the return of karaoke, a form of entertainment originated by the Japanese that continues to grow in popularity. Carol and Charlie Garcia are the hosts of the show that now features performances on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Come on out and grab the mike to show what you can do, or just listen to the many great voices that the show attracts.

As long as you're there, order one of Pee Wee's delicious meals and a drink or two. The bar venue boasts an impressive lighting and sound setup, and provides 20 large TVs to watch. Pee Wee's is planning a Casino Night in September, a Halloween bash and huge New Year's Eve party the entertainment continues unabated.

Well drinks have dropped in price to $2.50 and the selection of beer and ale on draft is the best in town. And speaking of prices, owner Steve Kraut said the establishment has lowered prices pretty much across the board, We have concentrated on delivering quality meals at reasonable prices, he said.

You can still get Pee Wee's signature dish, the fabulous Icelandic cod fish and chips, for $9.95 or enjoy incomparable fajitas for $13.95. For those who abhor buns, how about the lettuce burger? Protein-style burgers are all the rage, and you can get a hand-formed sirloin single patty burger at Pee Wee's starting at $6.95.

The menu at Pee Wee's is vast. You can start with an appetizer, go vegetarian, feed the kids on the cheap, select from a full list of salads, dive into comfort food like a hot beef sandwich, enjoy a fine New York steak or some Jambalaya the list goes on and on: seafood, pasta, chicken Marsala. And business lunches are very popular.

Pee Wee Muldoons is open for business every day of the week: Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. The bar is open daily till 2 a.m.

Kraut said take-out is a big part of the restaurant's business, and full professional catering is available. Pee Wee's bus will pick up your group of eight or more for dinner and take you home after your meal.
