Sparkles Prom Dress Exchange is hoping to help prom dreams become a reality.

Sparkles will hold its grand opening Saturday, Feb. 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The brainchild of a Brentwood mom with two high-school daughters, Sparkles is striving to make what can be an expensive event more affordable for local teenagers whose prom dreams might have been affected by the current economy.

The store sells new and gently used prom dresses on consignment for a fraction of the original price. There is a $10 staging fee, and Sparkles will charge 20 percent of the sales price with the remainder going back to the seller. Sparkles also offers shoes, accessories, flowers, hair and makeup services, and custom garters.
