Santa Claus made a special visit to Knightsen School recently to surprise children with tidings of good cheer. The jolly old elf made an appearance in each classroom to chat with students and take any last-minute gift requests. The holiday event was made possible by the Knightsen Volunteer Fighters Associated, which has arranged Santa’s visits for more than 50 years.

The Knightsen Volunteer Firefighters stopped fighting fires about seven years ago, but continue to be active in the community. Not currently affiliated with the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District, which provides full-time paid firefighters, the Knightsen group meets monthly and remains active by holding car shows, community cleanup events and other forms of community service.
