Back in 1999 we started something we called Be Seen with the Press, awarding prizes to the most creative photographs submitted with readers holding their Hometown Weekly Newspaper. There was a lady who used the paper to cast her pregnant belly in paper mache, a fellow who held it up while waterskiing backwards and barefoot, even a guy perusing the paper while seated in his bathroom with an empty toilet paper roll on the wall beside him
We also got submissions from far and wide as people brought their paper along on vacation. Since that time, the paper has been Seen in hundreds of locations, including every continent, at 35,000 feet pointed straight up in a Navy fighter, and six times at the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
Sometimes we fall behind in running those we get, and have to play catch-up. This is one of those times: with summer vacations on the horizon, we figured we'd better start making some room in the file for the sure-to-come onslaught.
To be part of the Seen sensation, just send a picture of you or a loved one with any edition of the Press in some interesting location, along with a brief explanation. Please understand if it seems we're moving slowly in getting to yours, after all, traveling is exhausting.
