Qualifying rounds have long been a thing of the past at the Antioch Speedway. However, last weekend promoter John Soares Jr. decided to put the dirt modifieds through two laps of time trials.

Former champion Scott Busby was the fastest modified on the one-third mile track with a best clocking of 16.061 seconds. It didn’t do him much good, however, when the veteran driver finished fourth in his heat and eighth in the main event.

Antioch Speedway racing resumes Saturday night with the 360 winged sprints, dirt modifieds, super stocks, dwarf cars and four bangers.

Wingless Sprints: Heat Winners – Billy Macedo, Scotty DePonts and Terry Shank; Trophy Dash – Ryan Bernal; Main Event – Tony Liliberte, Shank and Bernal.

Dirt Modifieds: Fast Qualifier – Scott Busby, 16.061; Heat Winners – Jeff Thomas, Troy Foulger and Joe Carr; Main Event – Folger, Nick DeCarlo and Bobby Motts.

Dwarf Cars: Heat Winner – Nick Squatrillo; Main Event – Squatrillo, Charlie Correia and Mike Carsaro.

Pure Stocks: Heat winners – Dan McCown and Natalie Perry; Main event – Eric Shanton, Brian Beard and Chris Sorenson.*

*Jim Freethy won the pure stock main event but was disqualified.
