Lovers of poetry are invited to help celebrate Poetry Month at Open Mic, held Thursday, April 12 at 6:30 p.m. in Cap’s Oak Street Bar & Grill in downtown Brentwood.

All short work – poetry, short story, nonfiction or any other creative work – is welcome. Participants are allowed five minutes to perform. Work on any subject is encouraged – original or that of another writer – as long as it’s neither insulting nor abusive. All are invited, whether performing or listening and enjoying.

This event is free, but attendees are encouraged to support Cap’s with a purchase of food and drink. Hosted by Brentwood Poet Laureate Kati Short, Open Mic is presented by Brentwood Writes, an adjunct of the Brentwood Art Society, and the Brentwood Community Library. Cap’s is located at 144 Oak St.
