Following the announcement from Liberty Union High School District (LUHSD) Superintendent Jerry Glenn of his retirement, the LUHSD Board of Trustees has moved forward with the selection process for the new superintendent.

Former LUHSD Superintendent Dan Smith will serve as the search advisor for the board, assisting in advertising, recruiting, accepting applications, reviewing applications, preparations for interviews and facilitating the decision-making process.

Applications for the position must be submitted by June 8. The board will announce its appointment by July 1.

Parents and community members within the district may participate in the process by completing a survey indicating the desired qualities in the new superintendent. Representatives from parents, communities and staff will serve on an interview committee.

“This is the most important decision that a school board makes,” said LUHSD Board President Holly Hartman. “And we are fortunate to have Daniel Smith facilitate the comprehensive selection process. He has a deep understanding of our goals and he shares our desire for the LUHSD to continue its quest for excellence in all areas.”
