The Oakley Library hosts dynamic storyteller Mary J. Kelly on Wednesday, April 15 at 4 p.m. Kelly will tell stories from Africa in a program that’s part of a series of multicultural programs for children funded by a grant from First Five Contra Costa.

Kelly is a celebrated performance artist, actress, storyteller and published playwright. Her repertoire includes folk and fairy tales, African-American stories, ghost/mystery stories and original material. Her goal is to help students expand their world through story in order to understand and appreciate other cultures and think imaginatively.

The Oakley Library is located in Freedom High School at 1050 Neroly Road. The library is open Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Thursday from 2 to 9 p.m.; Friday from 2 to 6 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and is closed Sundays and Mondays. For more information, call the library at 925-625-2400.
