First of all, would you be so kind as to clarify whether you mean the permanent large green or white signs that are purchased and place off the immediate road way and are intended to honor Legislators/Members of The State California Highway or Police/Sheriff’s killed in the line of Duty? These signs are off the roadway and not intended to removed. They look like the standard road signs and do not need action on the part of the motoring public
OR, do you mean the home made houses, crosses, campaiign signs (which must be removed in a certain number if days (I am not sure if it is 10 days or 30 days) and I think that it is not a criminal act to removed them if you have remove them if you have been asked by the candidate.
I might as well come clean and say that as a member of a law enforcement family who lost two very close friends, my personal impression is that the signs that we pay to have CAL TRANS put up do not cause a fuss as people drive by. But I think that there is a tremendous difference in hand made signs to, ‘Honor’ the life of a person so drunk that they leave work, enter the state highway and basically commit suicide.
OR ( and this is worse) have the family of the oerson in state prison for manslaughter for killing the family who put signs up right next to his.
I think that If you drive around here and all you see is crap nailed to poles or taped to poles, not only is it distracting, but, with with exception, enough is enough. We have enough of a problem since the drunks don’t pick the litter up any more, East Bound HWY 4 (By Pass included) just looks worse by the wreck.
