Editor:

Regarding the three part-series on the new MACs (in the March 27 edition of the Brentwood Press), I find it very hard not to respond to your article when it came to the part about Liz Van Sandwyck.

Her comment to Piepho was “Show me one thing you have done for Byron.” Byron should be of no concern to Sandwyck, since she is a homeowner in Discovery Bay. She needs to be attending her CSD Board meetings. She was the old MAC’s secretary. Now her services are no longer needed.

I want Supervisor Piepho to know that not all Byron townspeople feel about her like Kathy Leighton and some of her cronies do. And I am here to defend the good name of our town and the good people that live here. Some of the people here in Byron are sick and tired of Leighton’s lip service – and that’s all it’s been for years.

The new MAC is now in place and needs to get on with the new business of the day. Maybe the old MAC needs some cheese to go with their whine.

It won't be long before DB West is in the same condition as Old DB. Already shows wear and extreme neglect. We do not need new services and additional taxes when the town manager and board cannot keep up with what they have now.

No growth and no new taxes until we get responsible leadership.

Most of the homes in DB need to basically, be demolished and rebuilt. Many of them are seen as "The pride of the '70's" and need to go. Streets are cluttered with boats, trailers and the trailer trash alcoholics that own them. We need to turn "Old" DB into something similar as DB West is. Modern, Young and Hip. Then it will get back the glory it once had. Now people see it as West Byron...

Many DB residents don't want any additional services and are happy with the way things are. But we will eventually be overrun by the money hungry developers and their political stooges that do the foot work for them. We like our horses, saloons, ranches and trailer parks. If you like what Fremont has then pack your bags and move there.

Why is there any secret information any way about what the county is preparing to do. It should all be public record widely posted. Hey pro growth advocate - why don't you take a tree and grow it where the sun doesn't shine.

No more houses, no more schools, no more shopping centers and no more storage lots. But to quote Mayor Gavin Newsom - "It gonna happen" or something like that he said. The will of the people mean nothing in this country any more. Money and power always win.

Have a great freaken day.

I would like to know how webmaster has the secret information of how the county is being prepared for a development on 1000 acres of boat storage for the purpose of a shopping center. Thats $$$$$$$$$$ to my pocket book. Webmaster tell me how you know about this.

As has been pointed out on several occassions, we either take control of development through our elected leaders and trust that the necessary infrastructure (roads, sewers, police, fire) will be accounted for, or we stick our heads in the sand and deny progress.

It is going to happen folks. People like annonymous don't understand that denying the progress will not keep it from happening. Of course no one plans on 1000 acres of boat storage. What we are doing is preparing the county and the community for the development of that land, and this is just the first of many steps.

It will happen and we need to support and thank Mary Piepho and David Piepho and Bob Doran for for bringing the ENTIRE community together to enable future growth.

If Discovery Bay is a one horse town without the horse, what is Byron and Knightsen?

Byron and Knightsen are like Discovery Bay's own "Alabama".

You live where you play and you get all the perks that that go with that. "Disco Bay" is nothing more than a glorified boat launch and to think of it as anything else is moronic. One horse town with no horse.Boat storage and mobile home storage is your strength and fits with all the residential storage of all the trailers that litter all your driveways, maybe you should use a storage lot.RT.4 is main street complete with storage. The best part of Disco bay is that it keeps Piepho away from the rest of her district.I say Disco bay deserves her and her soon to be Mayor husband...

Such a short letter generates this kind of venomous response?

Which of the two people criticized are using which aliases here? Which ones are the folks that attending the planning commission meeting here on the boat storage thing:

http://www.pbtech.org/clients/CCBOS/agenda/cccpc03102009.html

Slide down to around minute 36 for the critics, including a DBCSD Director and a Brentwood resident complaining about an ordinance affecting Byron/DB?

845 acres isn't a figure widely known, other than with the folks chasing the commission and burying the county with information requests. The part that is DAMN funny is these folks believe the rezoning could mean a storage yard that is EIGHT HUNDRED FORTY-FIVE acres in size! Can you say clueless?

845 acre boat storage yard? Encroaching on red legged frog habitat?? WOW! New day, new conspiracy.

Somebody needs to open a window and stop sniffing the glue. Do you people have ANY clue on the myriad of steps that come AFTER rezoning before you can so much as put up a fence post for a new storage yard? It’s a rezoning consideration for BOAT STORAGE. Not for shopping malls. Not for housing. Anybody suggesting anything of the sort ought to have their head examined.

Hey, it’s a free country and you have a right to be stupid, but some of you are abusing the privilege.

Change,

"There is no doubt that Mary has to pull a few tricks of her trade to achieve the final goal. That's politics and she is just playing the game. That boat storage ordinance will prove invaluable when it comes to future development of shopping and high density, low priced homes"

My Comment,

" Lets all go shopping at the 845 acre boat storage shopping mall "

What a dishonest decieving joke........

That's Mary....

Your are right David is too dumb to be Mayor. He can't even do the CSD job right. As for our Supervisor who raised her salary to meet the $167K per year income she will do anything she can against the wishes of the people to bust through that Urban Limit Line. Like reality check said "Power Monger".

Just be glad Mary is on our side, and working hard to develop the area into a larger community. Otherwise towns like Byron and Knightsen would have not chance of progressing. They would be a rural wasteland for another 25 years. Supervisor Piepho is pulling them into the 21st century.

Reality Check - you give David too much credit. He isn't capable of being the Mayor of Whoville much less DB/Knightsen/Bryon, and Mary knows it. If you are worried about David you should relax.

Hey Manage, what's wrong with Applebees? It provides employment and food. Don't be such a small town guy/gal.

It is people like these Piepho power mongers that contribute to destroying our environment. Just like the 845 acres outside the urban limit line they are attempting to make urban by their phony Boat Ordinance the Supervisor is falsely using her power to force on the people. This woman could care less about the environment her & hubby's mission is to plant any kind of shopping center they can get in. Mary has visions of David being Mayor of this great city they want to create. Imagine that a city without services? Or is the Supervisor going to pull 50 million out of you know where to cover the current deficit. Piepho's think the public is stupid (or probably doesn't care) and cannot see their greedy actions. Queen Mary got a taste of the public's reaction when she tried to cram the 3000 homes down the throat of the Discovery Bay community. But she doesn't care what the people want, with her it is what David and Mary can cook up in the back room. Oh I forgot, David doesn't talk about those things at home, doesn't keep notes, or emails, destroys them all immediately as he swore in his deposition. I call that incompetent. For Barbara Byers to be kissing there ass in the newspaper is pretty funny since she has done nothing for years but say hateful things about Supervisor Piepho. Remember Mary & hubby tried to destroy the Byron Sanitary District, another one of their self serving vicious actions.

This comment below really scares me because that's Piepho all the way. "Pro growth no infrastructure " gimme, gimme, gimme, take,take,take..... this is whats ruining our country for our children. Does anyone even think about what we are doing to our children ? People like manage and Piepho's could care less about tommorrow if they can steal today and leave the debt to our kids.

Who's got plastic credit ? lets shop......

"example of a taker"

" You people don't get it. Watershed, EIR, endangered species and the like have nothing to do with progress. You will all be part of Discovery Bay in 10 years and we will have restaraunts, stores and service jobs for our community. You don't really think agriculture is going to have a place in here once the Canal delivers the water to Southern California, do you? "

P.S. Don't forget to click your heals three times. I wish In was in disco bay, I wish I was in disco bay, I wish.....

I would hate to drive down discovery Bay Blvd. and find a freaking Applebee’s.

I doubt that is what the Piepho's fight for. They fight for clean water, safe commuting, and building "community" not multiple planned communities.

Who cares how many Byron MAC meetings Ms. Byer attended. That is completely irrelevant now that Discovery Bay is in the driver's seat.

You people don't get it. Watershed, EIR, endangered species and the like have nothing to do with progress. You don't really think agriculture is going to have a place in here once the Canal delivers the water to Southern California, do you?

Embrace the change or move to Oregon or Idaho. Progress is going to clean up Byron and Knightsen and make them more like the Discovery Bay community that most of us moved here to enjoy. I have lived here for 3 years and can't believe the lack of services.

Rural homes, trailer parks, ranches and saloons will make way for planned communities and shopping centers. If you want to see a road map for this, look at Fremont. That's what we deserve. Thank goodness we have the Piephos working on this for us!

How many Byron MAC meetings has Ms. Byer attended in the last 14 years...2, maybe 4? Perhaps if she attended the meetings regularly she comments would have some credibility.

Acc,

Change is good when created with proper infrustructure up front. Obviously, you do not know anything about the lack of and improper growth. Example: rezoning 845 acres of ag land next to a watershed and home to endangered species for the purpose of boat storage is idiotic. There's a sample of your Shopping Mall. Hey it's right across from McDonald's. There's a classy Discovery Bay store.
