This is an open letter to the residents of Antioch, Brentwood and Oakley. I need your help.
I was involved in a near-fatal accident on Friday July 6 around 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of Hillcrest and Davison/Deer Valley. The other party drove through a red turn signal at the intersection as they were transitioning from southbound Hillcrest to eastbound Hillcrest.
I was on my motorcycle, commuting to work that morning. I had the green light for that intersection heading northbound from Deer Valley Road. The Antioch Police Department has just issued its report, which clearly shows/cites the other driver as causing the accident.
Their insurance is still delaying in accepting financial responsibility/liability. In order for me to obtain relief, I need statements from witnesses. Since I was taken by ambulance to emergency, I was unable to get any information from anyone. If you were the “Good Samaritan” that called 911 or stopped to help, God bless you. My family and I appreciate your help. We would be evermore grateful if you would be willing to come forward with a statement if you witnessed the accident.
While I’m alive and trying to recover, I’m in need of two surgeries: one for my left knee and the other for my right shoulder. Medical bills and deductibles are piling up. I still have faith in the goodness of folks. I wish to thank the emergency crew that responded and all those who put their lives on the line every day for their community.
Waiting for relief.
Gil Hernandez
