Yes on Walmart, no on palms

Editor:

Letters written by Terri Adams and Kelly West dated Oct. 7 were right on the money. I want to make the following comments:

1. I don’t remember hearing any objections when Target, Mervyns and other stores were being built. Although these establishments are on Lone Tree Way in the city of Antioch, neverthless, they are right next door to Brentwood. I shop at Walmart weekly and more often as the need arises. And yes, I would prefer spending my money in our own town.

2. Regarding the palm trees. Yes, they are beautiful, but at what expense? The buildings are way too big and look out of place with all the other surroundings. They don’t fit. One smaller one with enough office space would’ve been sufficient. We the residents and taxpayers of Brentwood did not have an input on this huge project. We only pay the taxes. Enough said.
