When Kristine Hepworth, mother of identical twins Zachary and Christopher, posted a YouTube video of her boys climbing, careening and catapulting into bed per their usual nighttime ritual, she knew her toddler darlings were Candid Camera cute, she just didn’t know the rest of the world would think so, too.

“We started the little bedtime ritual because we noticed how much the babies seemed to love routines,” said the Antioch resident, who posted the boys’ antics on YouTube a few months ago. “I could hardly keep them out of their cribs. So when it came time to put them to bed, if I told them to go to bed, they would get so excited.”

Since July, the two-minute video highlighting the blond-haired boys laughing and racing to their individual cribs, climbing the rail slats, flopping onto the mattresses and attempting to zip the crib tents (lightweight netting that prevents them from climbing out) closed – all in tandem – has gone viral, drawing more than 340,000 hits.

“We had no idea it would go viral,” said Hepworth. “I simply took the video to show my in-laws in Texas because they don’t get to see the babies very often, and the next thing I know, we’ve got thousands of hits from people all over the world. It’s been a lot of fun.”

Fun is something the Hepworths know plenty about. In addition to their 2-year old twins, the family includes sister Alyssa, 6, and brother David, 4 – bringing the total to four children born within 39 months.

“Our first two children were so easy to take care of, we thought we needed to hurry up and have a third because they’re so much fun,” laughed Hepworth. “The next thing I knew, I was pregnant with identical twin boys. So yes, we went from two to four children very quickly. It’s a lot, but it’s a lot of fun.”

And on the Hepworth’s YouTube Family Fun Pack Channel, there’s plenty more where the crib-climbing video came from.

“I’ve got video of them going crazy in their stroller, and one of them flipping off the dresser onto the bed,” said Hepworth. “Needless to say, they’ll be taking gymnastics classes.”
